The Innsmouth Insider

All right. I don’t know how many of you saw the press conference this morning, but I think it’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that the D.A. is completely full of shit. The very fact that he would lump Rebecca McKay into this makes the entire thing suspect. That and the fact that we know that these murders were committed by Offspring.

There were three bodies found early this morning. They were dismembered and showed the same markings as the wounds on the women from the McKay case. So this means a couple of things. Either the M.E. wasn’t able to put that together or his report is being suppressed. Now in a normal situation you might go looking for evidence, but when we’re dealing with Innsmouth the first thing you look at is genealogy.

1. District Attorney Charles J. Bear was born in Innsmouth. His parents lived in Innsmouth and were fairly well to do. His father was an executive and the mother was of course the perfect accessory wife socialite. But his ties to this town go deep.

2. Medical Examiner Paul Briggs was born in Chicago, IL and was offered the job less than a year ago. He has no real ties to the town.

So what does this mean? It means if you have a question and one of your suspects was born and raised here and holds a position of power…then you doubt. You doubt until they prove otherwise.

I don’t know what’s going on but I’m going to work on tracking down this M.E. He showed up to handle the case and then hasn’t been answering calls. He’s a non-resident and now he’s gone missing. His wife is out of town. And now you doubt some more.

Keep an eye out for the cops and specifically this dirtbag. I’ll let you know what I find out next.

We’re gathering slowly. People are trickling in from all over the country. We’ll figure out a good place to meet in the next week or two.

So here we are. I am compiling the list of volunteers, verifying your identities, and will be sending you a message soon to let you know about your assignments. My current plan is to divide you into three separate units.

Unit One- Ranged Strike

The first unit will be our long range team. People who are skilled with firearms, (particularly rifles) will be assigned to this group. There is no reason to engage these creatures in hand-to-hand unless it becomes absolutely necessary. You will attack first. You will lay down cover and suppressive fire. You will wear them down and hopefully make it so that no one has to get hurt. Even the Offspring can be hurt by penetrating rounds and their Progenitors will be shredded.

The second unit is the tech/support team. We need people with tech, paramedic, field medic, and engineering abilities. Some of what you’ll be doing is obvious, the tech people will be constructing some devices for the third unit to use.

The third unit is the wet team. Their job is clean-up, extraction, and corralling. This team is the most likely to make direct contact with the enemy and needs to be the most physically capable. (The fastest, strongest, or most skilled. We need drivers real bad.)

Once the teams are established you will get your assignments. If there’s something you’re particularly good at, let me know.

I will keep you posted as to the location of the Blackbird as well.

Now that the enemies are identified…it’s time that we learned more about them; how they are different and how they are alike. The group as a collective are called Deep Ones, but we have learned over the years that there is a distinct hierarchy between them.

First, we have what they refer to as the Progenitors. They are the ones that look like the creature from the black lagoon. They are the indigenous race of the underwater city they hail from and while seemingly unintelligent, possess a native cunning and vicious pack mentality that makes them incredibly dangerous.

Physically, they are built to withstand the pressures of the depths. But instead of a tougher epidermis, it is flexible and somewhat stretchy…(kinda like squids). They are amphibious, but they need to stay submerged to keep their skin from drying out and to remain flexible. Their internal organs are under considerable pressure and if you are able to puncture their epidermis they will bleed out quickly. I don’t know the real science behind the reason that they melt away once they die, but we have theorized that is part of an enchantment placed on them to keep their secret.

The Progenitors are part of the ancient pact between the EOD and the Deep Ones. In exchange for the gold they needed humans to mate with. (That movie about the fish men stealing women came from somewhere) Progenitors have a specific Sex. they are either male or female. And when they mate with a human they produce a Deep One: Offspring. And these are the massive, carapace covered creatures that are immortal and near invulnerable.

The Offspring are far more powerful and intelligent than the Progenitors but they revere them. They have an enormous amount of respect for the creatures that gave them life and will go out of their way to look after their less powerful parents.

Okay, you’ve read about the Masonic Order of Innsmouth. By now I expect you to know better. The Masonic Order was a cover for the true work of the Order. When Obed Marsh returned, he did start his order. He went after the richest and most powerful first and bent them to his will and purpose. Once the rich were brought in, the poor quickly followed and they were used as slave labor…or used in ritualistic sacrifices to fulfill the secret mission of this cult. A secret that is easy to discern once you know the real name of Obed’s church.

The true name of this religion was the Esoteric Order of D#gon. (DO NOT SAY THIS FREAKING NAME ON MY SITE! I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU’VE READ OR WHAT YOU BELIEVE. DO NOT FUCKIN SAY IT!!) Their goal was to awaken this great Old One and all of their wealth and power went into achieving this goal. And of course the first step in that goal…is awakening his consort. This process takes years to accomplish and as you know, they did not succeed the first time around.

But times…are a-changin…

Have you read this nonsense? They are actually deifying this monster. Anyone who has studied sociology can see that the behavior patterns of Obed (Obadiah) as a young man are similar to those of other cult leaders such as David Koresh or Charles Manson.

His charisma, and force of personality is not something that can be denied but the very idea that he would do any of this out of sense of selflessness. When you consider that he had several older brothers who, during this generation, would naturally assume leadership of the family business. But what we’re looking at here isn’t a natural assumption, this was a carefully planned hostile takeover. Obed, somehow, got the sailors on his side. A 19 year old kid convinced a CONVOY full of grizzled and seasoned tradesmen to listen to his plans and to make him the new leader of the Marsh Family in all the ways that are important.
